Letters to the Editor

Elise Fox is perfectly qualified to promote the interests of District 81 in the state legislature. Please vote for her Nov. 6.

Elise grew up in Aiken, was educated in our public schools and pursued higher education leading ultimately to a PhD in materials science. An internationally known expert, she has presented lectures in China and other venues. But her mind, heart and soul belong to Aiken. This is where she has built her family and her life.

Elise has two young children who are following their mother through Aiken County Public Schools. She's a Fellow Engineer at the Savannah River National Laboratory where she studies renewable energy. She chairs the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Solar Council, just recently completed a term as chair of the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Biomass Council and serves as Chair of the City of Aiken’s Energy and Environmental Committee, responsible for Earth Day Aiken.

In short, Elise Fox is all in for Aiken – our people, our city, our county, our state. If you want a representative who is knowledgeable, qualified, supremely competent and passionately dedicated, you want Elise. There is no one else who can and will advocate for us, our children, our economy and our future as well as Elise will.

Elise Fox understands that renewable energy is our future. She knows that education is our children's future. She gets the critical connection between the two and our local economy. We will thrive only if we prepare our children to be the workforce required by employers – and only if we commit ourselves to our planet home's future, not its past. Be smart. Vote for Elise Fox.
