Investigators with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office were in Georgia on Thursday working with the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office pertaining to the murder investigation involving Kellie Lynn Collins, said Capt. Eric Abdullah, with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
The details of the investigation are not known at this time.
Collins is charged with grand larceny and the murder of Curt Jason Cain, 41, of Aiken.
Cain was found dead in his apartment on Aug. 7 by the residential manager, according to an incident report.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton later announced Cain died from blood loss after being shot. Cain is believed to have died Aug. 4, Carlton said.
Collins was extradited to the Aiken County detention center from Georgia on Monday, and her bond was denied Tuesday.
A car registered to the Old Powderhouse Road address, a blue Subaru Legacy, was reported missing at the time of the initial investigation, and has still not been found as of Thursday evening.
Collins was at one point a Democratic candidate for Georgia's 10th Congressional District. Cain served as Collins' treasurer, as was previously reported in the Aiken Standard.
McDuffie County deputies spoke with Collins at the Georgia jail. She confirmed at that time the two were married but would not specify where.
