Those looking for something to do in Augusta during Masters Week can visit an art gallery dedicated to the sport of golf.

The Westobou in downtown Augusta has a pop-up art gallery during Masters week called the Art of Golf. There was a reception Tuesday night that allowed people to view the exhibit.

“We had an opportunity in our schedule to connection to probably one of the biggest sporting events that happens year-round in Augusta and feature some special paintings,” Matt Porter, who serves as the executive director of Westobou, said.

He said Westobou is a contemporary art space that has a variety of exhibit throughout the year.

Porter said over a dozen paintings are on display  that highlight locations in Augusta and sports figures connected the Masters.

The paintings were created by Ted Dimond, who is a sports painter. Each of his paintings is connected to golf events.

“This is one of the times of the year that all the people are looking at Augusta with one certain parcel in mind, so it makes sense as an art space for us to showcase an interesting way those things come together — sports and painting,” he said.

Those interested in going to gallery can during Westobou's hours from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Westobou is located at 1129 Broad Street in Augusta.
