South Aiken Baptist Girls 28 Covenant Classical Christian Girls 24 South Aiken Baptist Christian school's varsity girls' basketball team playin in a tie-breaker game in South Carolina Independent Schools Association Region 3-A action Monday at Glenforest School in Columbia. After a win in that contest, the Crusaders will be traveling back to Glenforest at 3:30 p.m. Thursday to play Aiken Christian. LeaAnn Gossett scored eight points to help give South Aiken Christian the win on Monday, while Kym Coley chipped in seven. Lillian Kelly scored six and Elizabeth Gochicoa five to set up the Thursday showdown. Aiken Girls 49 Dutch Fork Girls 51 The Aiken Lady Hornets lost to Dutch Fork Tuesday night in a close region match-up. Aiken was led by Shaniqua Parker's 16 points in the loss. Seniors Lexy Williams had nine points and Bree'Ana Perry had eight points in the losing effort. Aiken's record is now 15-7 and 8-5 in the region. The Lady Hornets play Friday at home against North Augusta. Silver Bluff Girls 66 Barnwell Girls 28 Silver Bluff was led by four players in double digits in their blowout win. Jamie Foreman's 15 points led the way. Khadajah Simpkins and Danielle Bush each had 11, and Taylor Muterspaugh finished with 10 points. Silver Bluff is 18-3 overall and 10-0 in the region. They open the state playoffs next Tuesday night at home at 7 p.m. Silver Bluff Boys 69 Barnwell Boys 49 The Bulldogs were led by Theron Stephens with 19 points and Travis Williams had 18 points. Silver Bluff is 17-4 overall are 7-3 in the region. They open the state playoffs next Wednesday night at home at 7 p.m. Strom Thurmond Boys 58 Saluda Boys 54 Strom Thurmond was led by Demarcus Smith with 28 points in a four-point win. Mike Hemp added 10 points as well. The Rebels record is now 12-6 and 9-0 in the region. They play again Thursday against Gilbert at home. Strom Thurmond Girls 67 Saluda Girls 18 In a blowout, the Lady Rebels were led by Courtney Mealing, who had 25 points. Amanda Parks had 12 points and Cityah Burton had 10 points. Strom Thurmond's record is 19-4 and 9-0 in the region. They play again Thursday against Gilbert at home. Dutch Fork Boys 74 Aiken Boys 58 The Hornets fell by16 points in a region match-up with Dutch Fork. Aiken was led by Demetrius Washington, who had 12 points. Aiken fell to 12-10 overall and 6-7 in the region. Aiken plays home Friday against North Augusta for its final regular season game.
