According to Scout.com, South Aiken offensive lineman JerQuari Schofield is considering Clemson more than ever before. Originally a Tennessee commitment, Schofield visited Clemson last weekend and is leaning toward changing his mind. The site is also reporting that the Tigers are likely to get a visit from five-star quarterback Tajh Boyd this weekend. ... College Football News is reporting that one of Georgia's top prep football teams has banned Steve Spurrier and South Carolina from recruiting future prospective student athletes. Spurrier withdrew a scholarship offer to Jonathan Davis of Tucker High School and had one of his assistants inform Davis that his services were no longer needed. Tucker head coach Franklin Stephens responded by telling Spurrier that South Carolina was banned from recruiting athletes at the school. ... Williston-Elko tight end Jackson Cooper apparently picked up a scholarship offer from Newberry College. He will be taking his official visit to that school on Jan. 21, and he has also scheduled visits with Coastal Carolina (Jan. 30) and Charleston Southern (Jan. 31).
