North Augusta High School will be looking for a new head football coach.

Brian Thomas is no longer in the position after six seasons with the Yellow Jackets, according to an Aiken County Public School District official. Thomas led the team to a 49-23 record during his tenure, with an 18-10 mark in region games.

The Yellow Jackets won 10 games in a season three times under Thomas, including a 10-3 record in 2018 as they reached the third round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

North Augusta's 2019 season came to an end with a 38-31 triple overtime loss to North Myrtle Beach in the first round of the playoffs. The Jackets won three consecutive games against Aiken County rivals to secure a third-place finish in the league following a 2-5 start.

Dozens of North Augusta players signed to play collegiately during Thomas' tenure, and he coached six different players who earned various Aiken Standard Player of the Year honors.

Thomas is scheduled to be head coach of Team SC in January at Border Bowl VII.

Thomas is still an employee of the school district, the official said.

Prior to his time at North Augusta, Thomas coached at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C.
