Midland Valley's girls opened their regular season with a home win over Class AAAAA opponent Greenwood. Midland Valley (1-0) hosts Evans at 6 p.m. Friday.

South Aiken 50, Strom Thurmond 25

Mekaihla Blocker scored 14 points, and Aysha Scott added 10 as South Aiken knocked off No. 10 Strom Thurmond. Jonelle Brown led Strom Thurmond with 10 points.

Fox Creek 37, Augusta Christian 34

Fox Creek's girls held onto a halftime lead to pick up a win over Augusta Christian. The Predators (1-0) are in action at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in tournament play at Augusta Prep.

Barnwell 54, Silver Bluff 43

Tenth-ranked Barnwell opened its season with a rivalry win at Silver Bluff. Barnwell (1-0) next hosts Wade Hampton at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and Silver Bluff (0-1) visits Lakeside at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Academy of Richmond County 66, Aiken 56

Aiken opened the regular season with a loss to ARC. Charvis Jones had 25 points and six rebounds, and Maison Hall had 24 points and eight rebounds. The Hornets (0-1) host Thomson at 6 p.m. Friday.

Greenwood 64, Midland Valley 53

Midland Valley fell at home to Class AAAAA opponent Greenwood. The Mustangs (0-1) host Evans at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Silver Bluff 84, Barnwell 57

Sixth-ranked Silver Bluff picked up a big win over rival Barnwell to open the season. The Bulldogs (1-0) were led by Latavian Lawrence, who scored 25 points. Darius Johnson scored 17, Jarvis Brown and Jimmie Foreman had nine apiece, and Ke'Andre Williams scored eight for the Bulldogs, who visit Lakeside at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Warhorses (0-1) have a home game scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday against Wade Hampton.

Augusta Christian 72, Fox Creek 54

Fox Creek was within five at halftime, but Augusta Christian pulled away in the second half. The Predators (0-1) play at 4 p.m. Thursday in tournament play at Augusta Prep.

South Aiken Baptist 64, Community Christian 38

Caleb Leverette led the Crusaders (2-2, 2-0) with 31 points and 15 rebounds. Adam Buchanan had eight points and four assists. The Crusaders have a home game at 6 p.m. Friday against Covenant Christian.
