CLEMSON — All four Clemson golf signees for the fall of 2013 are ranked in the final top 50 of the Golfweek Junior Rankings for the class of 2013. Leading the way is Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Ga. with a number-four national ranking.
Strom Thurmond High School senior McKenzie Talbert is ranked 20th in the class of 2013. Talbert has won the Class AAA individual state championship three times.
Sloan Shanahan of Suwanee, Ga., is rated 39th and North Augusta High School’s Jessica Hoang 45th. All four ladies will be on the Clemson women’s golf roster that begins play this coming September under head coach J.T. Horton.
Ramsey was named a first-team AJGA All-American each of the last two years, one of just eight women nationally who can make that claim. This past summer, she finished second at the U.S. Public Links Championships and played in the Junior Solheim Cup for the U.S. team. She also reached the final 32 of the U.S. Junior Amateur.
Talbert was a second-team AJGA All-American in 2010. She’s a three-time winner of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association’s Beth Daniel Player of the Year Award and has also been the Carolinas Golf Junior Player of the Year three times.
Hoang had a strong 2012 season on the AJGA circuit with five top 15 finishes. She also had five top 10s in 2011, including a victory at the E-Z-Go Vaughan Taylor Championship in July. She won four tournaments in 2011, including the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea.
