Darley Stable’s graded stakes placed Centring has drawn the extreme outside post for Saturday’s $750,000, 1 1/8-mile, Grade 1 Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park. Centring was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones.
The 5-year-old daughter of the 1992 Horse-of-the-Year A.P. Indy, drew post position no. 6, will carry 115 pounds, and have jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the irons. The Darley homebred’s dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Composure.
The mare is conditioned by Tom Albertrani, and was third his last time out in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap at Belmont Park on May 27. Centring worked 5-furlongs in 1:03.91 on July 11 at Belmont Park.
