Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, Ms. Vera Altman Coursey Ryals, 83, of Aiken, wife of the late Hudson Ryals and daughter of the late Milledge Altman and the late Minnie Lee Lamb Altman. She is survived by three sons, Clyde (Billie) Coursey and Robert (Marilyn) Coursey, both of Aiken, and Kenneth (Darlene) Coursey of Lexington; stepchildren, Karen Schultz and Sharon Sheppard, both of Aiken, Manning Widener of Washington state and Betty Carson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Coursey. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but there is a consolation in knowing that life for her has not ended but only begun in a better place with no more breathing problems. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Goff officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Alonzo Jordan, Frankie Spradley, Brad Dyer, Andrew Coursey, David Coursey and Phillip Hancock. The family will receive friends today, Friday, Jan. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fellowship of Truth Baptist Church, 571 Whaley Pond Road, Graniteville, SC 29829.
