COLUMBIA, Md. -- Funeral services for Superstar of Gospel Tommy Ellison will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Smyrna Baptist Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held Saturday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (with a musical tribute beginning at 2 p.m.) at the Brookland Baptist Church, West Columbia, and from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel. Tommy was born on Sept. 15, 1932, and entered into eternal rest on Jan. 3, 2009, in Columbia, Md. He was the lead singer of Tommy Ellison and the Singing Stars, whose career spanned more than six decades. He leaves to cherish his precious memory a sister, Mae Hammond Fogel; aunts, cousins; his devoted caretakers, Gloria Wilson Shelton and Michael Ellison; other loving relatives, friends and fans.
