Mary Lois Mitchum Britt

GRANITEVILLE -- Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, Ms. Mary Lois Mitchum Britt of Graniteville, wife of the late Thomas "Tommy" Britt and daughter of the late Otis Mitchum and the late Belle Kneece Mitchum. She is survived by a daughter, Annette Kelsey-Norton of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Richard S. (Patricia) Kelsey Jr. of Augusta, Ga., Michael (Kathleen) Kelsey of North Augusta, Robert Keith Grey of Charleston and Jeffrey Glenn (Marie) Grey of Warrenville; a sister, Jeannette Sibert Dorn of Evans, Ga.; a brother, Harry "Pete" Mitchum of Augusta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Finley Laron Grey, and a son-in-law, Robert Norton. She was born in Valdosta, Ga., but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was retired from Graniteville Company. She also worked for Cold Creek Nursery for five years. She was a dedicated member of the Graniteville First Baptist Church and a member of the Sunday school class there. She was a member of the Constellation Chapter #97, Order Of The Eastern Star, where she had served as past worthy matron and worthy grand Martha. The family stated that she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and next to God, her family came first and was her life. She was an outgoing person, who never met a stranger. Yes, she will truly be missed by her family and many friends, but life for her has not ended but only begun in a better land, where she will be waiting to greet her loved ones one day. A celebration of her life will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Graniteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Hendricks and speaker Charles Hilton officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Graniteville. The pallbearers will be Donnie Turner, Todd Kelsey, Michael Mitchum, Keith Sibert, Tommy Sibert and Eric Johnson. The honorary pallbearers will be Constellation Chapter #97, Order Of The Eastern Star and members of her Sunday school class. The family will receive friends this evening, Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home.
