GREENVILLE -- Matchem Miller "Bill" Jones, formerly of Graniteville, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Born in Taylors, SC, he was the son of the late Ralph Miller and Ruth Rector Jones and served in the U.S. Air Force. Fondly known as "Mr. Bill," he was the former owner of several Aiken convenience stores and was retired from Carter Insulation Services. He was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and the Co-Ed 27 Sunday School Class. Surviving are a special friend, Jean Pearce; four daughters, Mary Ruth Singer and her husband Scott of Aiken, Peggy Ann Neel and her husband Harold B. of Greer, Margie Simard and her husband Jerry of North Augusta, SC, and Addie Jones of Graniteville; two stepdaughters, Beverly Shaw and her husband Mark of North Augusta, SC, and Nancy Woodward and her husband Patton of Florence, SC, and a sister, Peggy Fleming of Taylors; six grandchildren, Garrett and Collin Neel, Brad and Andrew Singer and Jeremy and Grace Simard; three stepgrandchildren, Morgan and Claire Woodward and Erin Shaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Rhodes. Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Taylors First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mountain Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the gathering space of the church one hour prior to the service. Honorary escort will be the Co-Ed 27 Sunday School Class of Taylors First Baptist Church.
