LEESVILLE -- John D Key, 72, passed away July 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Rehoboth United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are the Rehoboth United Methodist men. Mr. Key was born in Aiken to the late James Edgar Key and Anna Lee Key. He was a retired ironworker. He was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Men and Saluda Lodge No. 103 A.E.M. Rodman Local 201. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Anne Coe Key; daughters, Barbara Jane Key of Maryland, Sandra Carol (Jeff) Depew of Florida; son, John Daniel (Connie) Key Jr. of Maryland; stepchildren, William Marshall (Anne) Lowery of Maryland, Tara Elizabeth Lowery Spillane (Lt. Col. Kelly Spillane) of Colorado; sister, Cleo Key Hamm; brother, Harvey M. Key; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, as well as other times at his home on Holley Ferry Road in Leesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Rehoboth UM Church Building Fund, 936 Holley Ferry Rd, Leesville, S.C. 29070, American Kidney Foundation, or charity of one's choice.
