JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Entered into rest on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, Gerald Brian DeAngelis of Jacksonville, Fla., beloved husband of Thelma Broach DeAngelis and son of the late Quintelio DeAngelis and the late Isolina Cosenza. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Brian DeAngelis of Michigan and Michael DeAngelis of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Dawn Meirthew of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Richard DeAngelis of Arizona; and four grandchildren, Jessica DeAngelis, Brandon Meirthew, Anthony Meirthew and Dalton Meirthew. He was born in Chicago, Ill., but spent most of his life in Michigan. He lived in Aiken for six years, prior to moving to Florida. He was a retired coal technician for DTE Energy Plant. The family stated that he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a practical joker, who just enjoyed playing jokes on everyone. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and eating Hershey's chocolate. He was an avid fan of Dolly Parton. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Broach officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Bert Meirthew, Michael DeAngelis, Brian DeAngelis, John Davis, Phil Brann and Jimi Iliff. The family will receive friends at his brother-in-law, Tommy Broach's residence in Graniteville or at the funeral home Friday evening, Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, is in charge of the arrangements.
