The Laurens Street Wells Fargo bank branch in Aiken is closing.

According to a letter sent to local Wells Fargo customers, the branch, located 111 Laurens St. N.W., will be closed as of Sept. 26.

"We value your relationship and are committed to keeping you informed of changes that affect you," the letter reads.

The letter attributes the closure to "consistently" evaluating "our branch network."

Customers with a safe deposit box will receive a separate letter.

The Wells Fargo branch at Heritage Square, 1797 Whiskey Road, will remain open, as will the North Augusta Main branch at 402 Georgia Ave., North Augusta.
