Many local residents plan to stay up all night and dance. The Dance Marathon Committee at USC Aiken is looking for groups and individuals who want to dance for a cause. The second Dance Marathon to benefit the Children's Medical Center at MCG will be held on Friday, Jan. 23 starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 10 a.m. on Jan. 24 at the USC Aiken Convocation Center. According to Jasmine Pinckney, marketing chair of the dance marathon, the event combines music, food, games, children and dancing in a 16 hour, campuswide event. Dancers collect donations for volunteering to stay on their feet for the entire time. "All of the proceeds go to help children. This is to help provide the Children's Medical Center with the equipment and tools they need to treat children," said Pinckney. "Anyone can join us, whole groups, organizations or individuals." Entries into the marathon will be accepted until Friday Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the event as a spectator is invited to come and support the dancers. Throughout the night, there will be a variety of different activities including karaoke, ballroom dancing lessons, line dancing, drawing contests and much more. Anyone interested in participating should contact Jasmine Pinckney at 641-3776.
