Veterans Day Ceremony to be held at County park

A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Aiken County Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Marine Corps League’s James L. Hammons Detachment No. 939 is the organizer of the event, which is free and open to the public.

Little seating will be available at the Memorial Park, 1435 Richland Ave.

Speakers will include South Carolina State Rep. Bill Taylor, R-Aiken, and David Lobb, who is the president of the South Carolina Council of Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America. Lobb served in the Army for more than 30 years and earned the rank of colonel. He is the president and CEO of DBL International Inc., which is involved in international marketing and product development.

The Hammons Detachment’s commandant, Larry Frelin, also will speak.

Joe Featherston, who is the Hammons Detachment’s judge advocate, will be the master of ceremonies.
