The 8th edition of Run United, which was held April 27 in Aiken, generated $30,000 to support the United Way of Aiken County.

On Monday, United Way received a check for that amount during a presentation ceremony in The Alley.

Aiken Electric Cooperative and Touchstone Energy were Run United’s presenting sponsors.

More than 800 people signed up to participate in Run United this year.

The event offered a Half Marathon, a 5K race and a Fun Run for children.

“United Way is just so deeply grateful to Run United and for the money that is raised," Rodgers said. “But more important is the community it brings together to help others. We want the thank all of the sponsors but especially Aiken Electric Cooperative and Keyatta Priester for making this a reality every year. Thirty-thousand dollars is a blessing to our community and will fund many programs to help folks in Aiken County.”
