A career open house will be held early next month for the new Fresh Market, and the Aiken Workforce Center is offering assistance this week to help applicants get through the process with ease.
The new retailer will bring in approximately 80 to 90 jobs to the area, according to Fresh Market spokesperson Carly Dennis with Brave Public Relations, and most of those positions will be filled locally.
A variety of positions are open for residents to apply, and they are encouraged to do so before attending the open house.
The Aiken Workforce office will offer assistance in getting resume information submitted to Fresh Market before the open house through sessions to be held Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Lower Savannah S.C. Works website.
The Aiken Workforce Center is located at 1571 Richland Ave. East.
The career open house will be held Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Woodside Plantation Country Club, 1,000 Woodside Plantation Drive.
Work started at the South Park Shopping Center over the summer to renovate the entire building to give it more of a downtown feel.
The Fresh Market will be approximately 19,000 square feet in size with other retail spaces ranging from 900 to 1,400 square feet.
Halvorsen Holdings, which operates the shopping center, has not listed any other tenants for the strip at this time.
According to Aiken City Manager Richard Pearce, the Fresh Market is expected to open this spring.
