Southern Charm Salon and Spa is normally closed on Sundays, but the Whiskey Road establishment had plenty of traffic Aug. 19, in the midst of a back-to-school outreach.
Offered for free, for kids of school age, were haircuts, hot dogs, games and school supplies, and dozens of kids took part – more than 60 over the course of the afternoon. Plans are for most of the remaining supplies to be donated to local schools needing a boost.
Students who came to accept Sunday's offering represented such schools as South Aiken High, New Ellenton Middle, Byrd Elementary, Greendale Elementary and Warrenville Elementary. The business is under new ownership, with Amber Pardue having bought the shop in May from Pam Willard, who operated it under the name of Alpha and Omega Hair Designs.
