Salkehatchie Summer Service, a housing-focused ministry associated with United Methodist congregations around South Carolina, is in gear this week at St. John's United Methodist Church in Aiken. About 85-90 teenagers and adults are spending the week (June 22-29) helping needy neighbors with such concerns as plumbing, electricity, flooring and roofing. The volunteers represent congregations in such communities as Columbia, Florence, Charleston, Bishopville, Chesterfield, Eastover and Spartanburg.
