Two Aiken County high school seniors have been named 2011 National Achievement Scholarship semifinalist. The students are Zakiya Provost at Aiken High School and Toni Stevenson at North Augusta High School. They are among 48 African-American seniors in 32 public schools in South Carolina to earn this recognition. The National Achievement Program is coordinated through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Provost and Stevenson were recognized for their performance on the National Merit Qualifying Test, taken earlier this year. They will be eligible to obtain scholarships next spring.
