The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery man on Tuesday night.

The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. on Kershaw Street, according to a report.

The victim, a delivery employee of Pizza Hut, told officers he was robbed at gunpoint while delivering food to an address on Kershaw Street, according to the report. He said when he arrived at the address and exited his vehicle with the food items, he was met by a black male wearing a white T-shirt while approaching the home.

While confirming the order with the man, the delivery employee was approached by two or three more men, each armed with handguns, according to the report. The victim said the males ordered him to "give it up," referring to the money. The victim complied.

The unknown men took the money he earned delivering pizzas for the night, along with the delivery bag of food, according to the report. They then fled on foot toward Smith-Hazel Recreation Center. The victim then drove back to Pizza Hut on Whiskey Road to call police.

Officers responded to the home and found the delivery bag, food items and a black beanie cap behind the home, according to the report.

The restaurant was able to provide a receipt showing the phone number the order was placed from, according to the report.
