Those parking in Riverside Village will have to pay to park now, as the parking meters in the development are being used.
North Augusta City Administrator Todd Glover said Aug. 6 that the meters are on, adding that the city is not heavily enforcing parking, but there is enforcement going on.
“We’re trying to get people acclimated to them and the businesses acclimated to them,” he said.
The price to park is $1 per hour, with a two-hour maximum.
“Right now it’s voluntary compliance and for the most part people seem to be doing very well and they don’t mind paying for the convenience,” Glover said.
He said a new traffic plan for Riverside Village was also recently announced and that Center Street will not be closed during Augusta GreenJacket games, allowing patrons to visit other businesses in Riverside Village. Along with SRP Park, Riverside Village includes the Crowne Plaza Hotel and restaurants Rio Cantina and Southbound Smokehouse.
