One man has died after being shot multiple times Monday evening in a shooting in the neighborhood behind Citizens Park in Aiken.

Dante Dunbar, 21, was pronounced dead at Augusta University Medical shortly after he was transported there by Aiken County EMS, said Tim Carlton, Aiken County coroner, in an email release Monday night.

Dunbar was transported from Jehossee Drive in Aiken after a shooting was reported around 5:51 p.m., Carlton said in the release.

"As this is a fluid scene, details are not clear at this time," the coroner said in the release.

Autopsy is scheduled in Newberry for Tuesday morning.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating the shooting, which was reported on the 300 block of Jehossee Drive, said Capt. Maryann Burgess, with Aiken Public Safety.

"We can confirm one man was shot and injured, but we have no suspects at this time," Burgess said around 7 p.m. Monday.

Investigators are working to piece together what happened and trying to determine a suspect, Burgess said.
