Officials seeking

A Trenton man linked to an assault in North Augusta last week is wanted on allegations he shot another man in the leg on Crestlyn Drive while armed with a .45 caliber handgun, according to officials. Aiken County Sheriff's Office deputies say Allen M. Johnson, 19, of Bettis Academy Road, is wanted for assault and battery with intent to kill and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He is accused of struggling with the 27-year-old victim during an altercation. He told the authorities he heard two or three gunshots during the assault but did not realize until later that he had been injured. He told deputies the gunman began striking a woman with him in the head and demanded money from her. He said he tried to stop the assault and, during his attempt to get away, was shot at. He told deputies he went to a nearby convenience store to call for help and realized he had been hit in the calf. The victims and a witnesses gave investigators some information about the suspect, and deputies were able to later identify the man they say shot the victim. According to arrest warrants, the bullet entered and exited from the victim's left calf.
