A group of Aiken High School students got a special visit during seventh period on Monday.
Miss South Carolina 2018, Davia Bunch, stopped by the journalism class to share her story.
Bunch, a graduate from Dorman High School in Spartanburg, is now pursuing a political science degree at the University of South Carolina. While in town promoting Run United and the CSRA Heart Walk, she used her in-state roots to connect with the students.
“I’m just a regular girl from South Carolina,” Bunch said.
She shared some of her personal life experiences, her pageant journey and even her favorite phrase in Russian. She told the class her biggest dream is to become a congresswoman. Bunch explained that talking to the students was a special moment for her.
“It was amazing speaking to the students. I was just like them one day. In that same chair in high school, and I didn’t know my future,” Bunch said. “I wanted to tell them ‘Hey your goals are attainable and you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.’”
Run United partners with the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization. This is the eighth year that Run United is hosted by Aiken Electric Cooperative.
