CONWAY (AP) — A 47-year-old Andrews man faces charges for a fire that destroyed a popular barbecue restaurant in Myrtle Beach.
Multiple media outlets report Christopher Bryant is charged with third-degree arson and burglary in last week’s fire at Big D’s Bar-B-Que.
Police reports say firefighters responded about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 18 after an Horry County police officer spotted flames.
Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set.
The 33-year-old restaurant was declared a total loss after the fire.
Bryant was being held at the Horry County jail. It was not known if he has a lawyer.
Co-owner Kay Davis told The Sun News of Myrtle Beac on Friday she and her husband can’t afford to rebuild the restaurant since insurance will only cover the loan.
Big D’s in Conway will remain open.
