Winners have been decided in Aiken County School Board District 2 and 5 elections.
Jason Crane is the new board member for District 2, and Barry Moulton is the winner in District 5.
Crane defeated incumbent Levi Green, who was the school board chairman, by a vote of 2,651 to 2,602 in Tuesday's general election. District 2 covers most of Beech Island, Jackson, New Ellenton and Windsor.
Moulton defeated incumbent Jeremy Mace, who was elected to the board in 2014, by a vote of 229 to 136. Rosie Berry received 55 votes. All candidates were write-in.
District 5 covers Belvedere and part of the city of North Augusta.
A native of Aiken County, Crane is a financial advisor at Edward Jones Investments.
Crane is the former president of the St. Andrews Society of Aiken and was on the USC Aiken Alumni Council from 2009 to 2015.
Crane was a representative for the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve in Mississippi and South Carolina. He is an executive committeeman for the S.C. Young Republicans.
Crane is a product of Aiken County Public Schools, having attended Millbrook Elementary and Kennedy Middle School.
A graduate of South Aiken High School, Crane received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from USC Aiken and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Mississippi College School of Law, where he focused on estate planning and property.
Crane grew up attending Millbrook Baptist Church and currently attends Crossroads Church, where he serves on multiple committees.
He is married to Martha Crane who has been a high school math teacher for 10 years, most of them in Aiken County.
A lifelong resident of Aiken County, Moulton is the owner of Moulton's Landscaping, which focuses on residential and commercial landscaping, in Graniteville. He retired from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions after 25 years of service.
Moulton also was a youth pastor 25 years.
Moulton attended Aiken County Public Schools, graduating from Midland Valley High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in business management from USC Aiken.
Moulton is married and has three children who all attended Aiken County Public Schools. His wife has worked for Aiken County Public Schools for 18 years, and his oldest daughter is a first-grade teacher in the school district.
