The original campus of Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, in Graniteville, had plenty of slow-moving traffic June 11, as the host site of free COVID-19 testing, offered by Aiken Regional Medical Centers, with help from USC Aiken's nursing program and the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Hundreds of people lined up in their vehicles to undergo a nasal swab and learn about their medical status as it relates to the coronavirus pandemic. Walk-up testing was also offered, and 336 tests overall were administered. Plans are in place for a similar event June 18 in Aiken, at the former Bi-Lo (and future home of Second Baptist Church of Aiken), at 1151 York Street NE, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
