Joshua Forrest was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday afternoon after being found guilty of murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Mario Reddish. After the sentence a disturbance broke out in the courtroom and two people were arrested. Forrest, of Aiken, also was found guilty of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. On Dec. 4, 2005, Forrest and around 100 others attended a party at the Elk's Club in Aiken. A confrontation between Forrest and a former girlfriend that began with a dispute over a baseball cap and a pair of shoes inside the club that escalated to a fight and murder outside of it. Witnesses said Reddish broke up an altercation between the divided couple. However, when the club emptied in the early hours of the morning, witnesses testified that Forrest turned his attentions to Reddish, with deadly results. Two bullets from a handgun struck Reddish and he was pronounced dead soon after at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
