Aiken Department of Public Safety officers responded to a wreck Friday afternoon where an elderly woman accidentally ran into the front of the UPS Store on East Gate Drive.

The elderly woman pulled up to the store around 1 p.m. Friday and became distracted, causing her to accidentally hit the gas instead of the break on her vehicle, according to Officer Brandon Bethmann with the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

After hitting the gas, the woman’s vehicle jumped the curb and slammed into the front of the building, Bethmann said.

No one was injured in the incident.

George Cox, co-owner of the UPS Store, said the store will remain open for business and the mess would be cleaned up by Saturday.
