New houses are popping up throughout Aiken County. These under-construction homes are located in Graniteville.

Local residents and businesses will be able to participate in an economic development expo focusing on the growing Graniteville area this July.

USC Aiken, Economic Development Partnership and Enactus are partnering to present the Inaugural Graniteville Economic Development Expo on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Activities Center (SAC) Gym on USCA campus.

"Companies and other organizations located in Graniteville will be present to educate the public on their business services," according to a Friday news release.

Brent Hoover, lecturer with the School of Business Administration at USC Aiken, said via email, "My Enactus students at USCA wanted to make the public aware of the various businesses and organizations in Graniteville. When the students were initially conducting research for the event, they weren’t familiar with every organization/business in that area."

Enactus USC Aiken boasts a diverse roster of students from the School of Business, according to the organization's website enactususcaiken.weebly.com.

"The current mission for Enactus USC Aiken is to assist Graniteville, so this event seemed like a natural fit," Hoover said.

Companies and individuals alike are invited to attend this free event.

"There is no charge to attend; however, booth space for companies and organizations can be limited due to the size of the SAC Gym (provided on a first come, first served basis). Therefore, we are asking companies/organizations to RSVP by July 1 using the following link: bit.ly/2Kons94," Hoover said.

Graniteville-based businesses are especially encouraged to attend for exposure, networking and sales opportunities.

"As the name suggests, we’re hoping the IGED expo furthers economic development in Graniteville," Hoover said. "Individuals who attend can expect to be educated about the services offered by participating organizations/businesses and listen to several speakers throughout the event."

A representative of the USC Aiken Career Services team will be present to assist individuals with resumes and cover letters.

Light refreshments will be available.
