Elise Fox is an Aiken native and attended Aiken County Public Schools. She has a B.S in Chemistry from the College of Charleston and a M.S and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Penn State.
She returned to Aiken after graduate school and has worked at Savannah River National Laboratory ever since.
She is an expert in renewable energy technology and policy.
Her platform is focused on four E’s: Education, Economy, Environment, and Ethics. Dr. Fox felt compelled to run for State House in order to make positive changes in state’s education system, improve stagnant wages, tackle surface water withdrawal issues on the Edisto River, and ensure representatives are serving their constituents and not themselves in our state government.
For decades, SC schools have been underfunded and underserved. Her top priority is to restore adequate funding levels for the State’s public education system. She believes that a vibrant economy requires an educated workforce. and is focused on developing long term, positive solutions instead of short term fixes.
Dr. Fox is the Chair of the South Carolina Solar Council and Chair of the City of Aiken’s Energy and Environmental Committee. She lives on the south-side of Aiken with her husband, Kevin, and 10 year-old twins, Colin and Hannah.
