Community Ministry of North Augusta Day is coming up and will combine a groundbreaking and fundraising event into one day on Sept. 19.
CMONA will be breaking ground at 529 Belvedere Clearwater Road in North Augusta, the site of a new facility that will "enhance and expand its capability to serve those in crisis situations," according to a press release.
CMONA provides services and assistance to those in need around the community.
"We want as many people as possible from North Augusta, Aiken County and the CSRA to attend this special event because it represents so much more than new buildings. It’s a strategic and collaborative effort to combat the surging problem of poverty and homelessness that plagues our region. The groundbreaking reflects our commitment to our hurting and most vulnerable neighbors," said Board President Bill Swift in a press release.
CMONA is raising funds for the new facility with the Forward in Faith campaign, and following the groundbreaking, a fundraiser will be held at Sno-Cap Drive-In.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. and going until 8:30, the event will feature food, live music, inflatables, classic cars and raffles. From now until that night, supporters can also stop by Sno-Cap and donate on behalf of their favorite college team to see which fanbase has the most giving spirit.
The groundbreaking will be at 3 p.m. at 529 Belvedere Clearwater Road on Sept. 19 and is open to the public. Local officials, community leaders and ministry partners are expected to attend.
