An Aiken man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly assaulted his 29-year-old wife and possibly his 3-year-old daughter during a dispute at their Morris Pond Road residence.
John Maxey, 29, of Morris Road, is being held at the Aiken County detention center, with a pending warrant for second degree domestic violence.
The victim told Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies a verbal argument with her husband turned physical when she would not let Maxey take the child, according to a report provided by the Sheriff’s Office.
The report states both the victim and Maxey were pulling on either sides of the child, and Maxey allegedly struck the victim in the face, causing injury to her and possibly the child.
Deputies reported, however, they were unsure how the child was injured, the report states.
Maxey told deputies the victim choked him and he did not touch her; however, he did eventually admit that he pushed her at some point during the altercation, according to the report.
