The 2019 edition of the Annual Aiken Artist Guild Member Show will open to the public at the Aiken Center for the Arts on Tuesday .

An artist’s reception, open to the public, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the center at 122 Laurens St. SW. Award winners will be announced during the reception. A total of $2,000 in prizes will be awarded.

“Ninety-six artists have submitted work for the 2019 Member Show,” said Debbie Black, the Member Show director, in a news release about the show. “The entries include paintings in oil, watercolors, acrylic and pastel as well as photography, pottery, wood carvings, stained glass and fabrics.”

All works will be for sale, and the reception will provide an opportunity for guests to meet the artists.

“This is a fabulous opportunity for the community to celebrate art,” Black said.

Joseph Kameen, an art professor at USC Aiken, will judge the show.

The Aiken Artist Guild is in its 51st year of promoting local artists in the Aiken area.
