Bert Postell, currently the principal of Silver Bluff High, will start the 2019-20 school year as the executive director of high schools for Aiken County Public Schools.
He will begin his new position July 1.
Postell has been Silver Bluff High's principal since July 2017.
At Silver Bluff, Postell’s major focus has been on building a positive culture and climate while increasing student academic success, according to a news release from the school district.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with such a great faculty and staff that adapts well to the changing needs of our students and community,” Postell said. “I am excited that I will still get to work with them in a new capacity, while encouraging and supporting their continued progress.”
Before coming to Aiken County, Postell led Fort Dorchester High School in Dorchester School District Two first as an assistant principal from 2010 to 2012 and as principal from 2012 to 2017.
“Mr. Postell’s unique skill set has been an asset to Silver Bluff,” District Superintendent Sean Alford said. “This new role will allow a greater number of students to benefit from his disciplined dedication to continuous improvement.”
Postell will succeed Alvin Pressley, who has been the executive director for high schools for two years and plans to return home to a similar role in Lexington-Richland School District Five.
