Maj. Gen. R. Van McCarty

Maj. Gen. R. Van McCarty, Deputy Adjutant General for the South Carolina National Guard, will be the guest speaker for the POST ChalleNGe graduation Thursday, Nov. 30 at Aiken Technical College.

The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in ATC's Student Activities Center gymnasium.

This is the fourth cohort to graduate from the program, which began in January 2016. The POST ChalleNGe program is a collaborative effort among the South Carolina Army National Guard, ATC, Clemson University’s Youth Learning Institute Camp Long facility, Lower Savannah Council of Governments’ Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Aiken County Public School District.

Cadets selected for the 20-week POST ChalleNGe program have an opportunity to earn applied science certificates from ATC in high-demand fields such as welding, basic tower and wireless installation, production technology, computer networking and patient care assisting. Participants may also earn additional credentials such as WorkKeys.

A reception will be held immediately after the ceremony, which is open to the public.
