On Friday, April 26 was the Special Olympics for Aiken County. It was also the 35th anniversary of Special Arts. Special Arts is an event put on by the Aiken Woman’s Club that allows athletes, either when not competing or unable to compete a chance to participate in arts and crafts.

There are many groups that volunteer their time and money to make this event a great day for everyone. I would like to thank the following groups and volunteers.

They are Aiken County Association for Special Citizens, Women of Woodside, Sand River Women’s Club, Knights of Columbus, EGS, Town and Country, Cedar Creek Woman’s Club, Woman’s Clubs of South Carolina, Keep Aiken County Beautiful, Savanah River Ecology Lab, Ashcraft Dentistry for Kids, Aiken High Teacher Cadet Program, South Aiken Yearbook, Aiken High Key Club, Aiken High Beta Club, North Augusta High Yearbook, Regal Theatre, Aiken High Art Honor Society Aiken County Education Association, Retired, AWC Special Arts Committee, Area 15 Aiken County Special Olympics, some caring friends that just wanted to help out, and last but certainly not least the members and spouses of the Aiken Woman’s Club.

The event was a wonderful success for the athletes and volunteers. It truly takes a village and this village is the very best one to be connected with. They all are the very best!
