A North Augusta man faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing another man on Clearmont Drive.

Aiken County Sheriff's deputies arrested Alfonzo J. Mackey, 34, on Friday.

Clearmont Drive is located off of Edgefield Road (U.S. Highway 25 and S.C. Highway 121) north of the Belvedere area of Aiken County.

Deputies were called to the scene around 8 a.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man with a wound in his stomach area, Deputy J. Criscillis wrote in a report made available Tuesday. The man identified Mackey as the person who stabbed him, Criscillis continued.

Deputies located Mackey sitting on a nearby porch, conversing on a telephone with 911 operators, Criscillis said. Deputies detained him at gunpoint, Criscillis added.

While being placed into a vehicle, Mackey told the deputies he was tired of the man bullying him so he went to the store, purchased a knife, returned and then stabbed the man, Criscillis added.

Mackey also told officers where to find the knife, Criscillis said.

Attempted murder is a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison, according to the South Carolina Code of Laws.

An Aiken County magistrate denied Mackey bond, according to Aiken County Detention Center records.
