WILLISTON, SC – A graveside funeral service for Thelma Bates Mundy, 91, of Williston, SC will be held eleven a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Windsor Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the home. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Windsor Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 238, Windsor, SC 29856. Mrs. Mundy passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012. Born in Aiken County, she was a daughter of the late Ben Bates and Daisy Casnetti Bates and was married to the late Gordon Vernon Mundy, Sr. for 64 years. Mrs. Mundy worked along with her late husband at Mundy’s Marine and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Windsor. She loved taking care of her family. She also loved cooking, gardening and working with the family business. She was lovingly known as Grandmama, Granny, Granny Mundy and above all Mama. We love her dearly and will truly miss her; mama had such a sweet smile and a big heart. She will be missed by all of us so much. We take comfort in knowing she is with Daddy again with no pain, no sorrow and so happy God has picked him another special flower for his garden. Survivors include daughters, Sherry M. Green of Williston, Janis (Dale) Boothe of Aiken; sons, Gordon V. (Mary Alice) Mundy, Jr., Ricky Mundy all of Williston; sisters, Nadine Hall of Aiken, Rivie Bolen of Sumter; brothers, Thomas C. Bates; son-in-law, Ricky Green. Folk Funeral Home, Inc. and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
