John Douglas ‘Jack’Mayenschein
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Reverend Father Gregory Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Helms, John Wiley, Randall Simmons, Jimmy Bagwell, Jimmy Todd, Paul Turner, Frances Corbitt and Jerry Coker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Maxwell, Glen Nordeen, Allen McElroy, Tom McGeary and Raymond Lock-lear.
Jack was born in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Edwin C. and Sally Anderson Mayenschein. He was an operator at Owens Corning Fiberglass and worked as a funeral assistant at Shellhouse Funeral Home. He was also a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
He loved his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, and all of his life enjoyed fishing, yard work and his garden.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Wiland Mayenschein; his daughter, Traci (David) Wilkerson, Milledgeville, GA; his son, John Douglas “Doug” (Jan) Mayenschein, Jr., Salem, VA; grandchildren, Brent, Chand-ler, Blake, Morghan and Bryce; two brothers, James A. “Jim” Mayenschein, Aiken, Robert W. “Bob” Mayenschein, Lawrenceville, GA.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
A prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday evening with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM at SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC.
