She was born on May 15, 1925 in Brookline, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Clarence and Helen Pinksohn, of Brookline, Mass.
Audrey graduated from Boston High in 1939 and from the Academy Moderne (modeling school).
Audrey was a USO Hostess for the Boston servicemen where she met the love of her life, Lt. Col. (ret.) Melvin Piel. They married on August 1, 1945 and lived happily together for 56 years until his passing in 2001. They had a wonderful life traveling the world with their three children.
In 1965 they retired to Maitland, FL and opened up Piel Realty Company where Audrey was a Broker. Audrey also worked at the Naval Training Device Center in Orlando.
She is survived by 3 children, Patty (Myron) Golub of Atlanta, GA, Peppy (Stephen) Surasky of Aiken, SC and Bob Piel of Kennesaw, GA, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd Center Foundation, 2020 Peachtree Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30309; Jewish Tower Sunshine Fund, 3160 Howell Mill Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30327, Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Drive, NE Atlanta, GA 30319.
Graveside services will be Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11 o’clock at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
