Fox Creek High School's Elena Gallegos sang her way to victory in the school's Thursday Night Live talent show.
Gallegos, a sophomore, sang "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles to win the competition. Mariela Muniz salsa-danced her way to second place and Amber Person came in third.
"I was very, very excited - kind of stunned," Gallegos said. "We had a lot of good talent this year, and our talent show is getting bigger and bigger each year."
Gallegos is the daughter of Shannon Berry and Manuel Gallegos. She plans to attend Georgia Regents University and major in business administration after high school.
Chris Martinez, who organized the event, also accompanied Gallegos on piano. "To be honest with you, I felt that was one of the best performances we've had and the best group we've had come out here, the talent showed," Martinez said.
The show also featured artwork on display from Brittany Ewing's art classes. The backdrop for the show was created by the Art Club and featured the skyline of Augusta.
