USCA athletic honors are well deserved (with video)
Last Friday night, the USC Aiken athletic department inducted eight new members into the USC Aiken Athletic Hall of Fame during a formal ceremony at the Convocation Center.
It's the third time the university has held a formal gathering to bestow this honor on former sports players, and it's an honor well-deserved each year for these outstanding former students.
The university doesn't take the induction process lightly. Criteria to be included in the Hall of Fame has a five-year waiting period after graduation to be eligible, and a committee consisting of Hall of Famers, media members, campus representatives and current coaches and administrators work hard to go over candidates and elect new inductees each year.
Criteria for selection includes whether a candidate's participation and contributions enriched and strengthened USCA's athletic program, and athletic and academic accomplishments of the individual while they attended USCA, as well as their accomplishments and character after graduation.
We offer kudos to the eight newly inducted members of the 2012 class of the USC Aiken Athletic Hall of Fame. It is a well-deserved and special honor for those who worked hard and met the criteria for inclusion.
We offer congratulations to the following eight new inductees:
* Richard Abney, baseball
* Ashley Farr, baseball
* Mike Green, soccer
* Kendrick Smith, basketball
* Sean Gunn, basketball
* Meredith Legg, basketball
* Ed Reevey, golf
* Adam Riggs, baseball
