TalkBack: Religion in politics, Region champions, Driver training, Sting operations, Money for children
Religion in politics
I saw the front page about Mitt Romney and the religion thing. Isn't politics supposed to be about economy, jobs and Afghanistan? What about separation of church and state? Let's get on the things we really need to worry about.
Thanks for breakfast
Thank you to the person who paid for our breakfast at Cracker Barrel on Friday morning.
Region champions
There is a varsity high school boys basketball team in Aiken who have an 18-1 record, are region champions and are headed to the SCISA state basketball tournament with a No. 2 ranking. Four boys were named to the All-Region team and another boy was the tournament MVP. Hopefully the Aiken Standard can cover this wonderful local story about a group of kids who persevered through three losing seasons before winning this regional championship. Go South Aiken Christian Crusaders!
Driver training
Someone should open a driver training course for these people in Aiken, some of which don't have a clue. First, you can turn on red light if there is no oncoming traffic and not posted otherwise. Second, you don't have to stop 50 feet behind a car in front of you when you pull up to stop light and then proceed to inch up during the stop. Third, make a course mandatory.
Children with candy
Parents, quit buying your obese children candy. I was in line in front of a lady with three young ones. All of them were obese. Each of them had Whoppers, Snickers, whatever. She was doing anything she could to keep them from whining.
Sting operations
This is a suggestion, not a criticism: ADPS should set up sting operations around town for drivers running red lights. It is a jungle out there.
Money for children
I think it's a shame that people of Aiken are willing to spend so much money on cats and dogs and so little to help the children of Aiken.
You will be missed
Whitney Houston, you will be greatly missed. I hope they find your killer.
California voters
What kind of voters are in California to elect a moron like Maxine Waters?
