TalkBack: 'Inside Job,' after sunset, borrowing money, Union Street, punishments
‘Inside Job’
I have just finished watching the movie "Inside Job." If you haven't seen this movie, it's a must-see. I will warn you though, it will make you sick to your stomach. Our government and Wall Street just keep telling us it's going to be all right but only for them. The thought occurred to me, what if we didn't pay our federal income taxes, they couldn't put us all in jail. They didn't put any of the Wall Street crooks in jail. The movie is eye-opening.
After sunset
After the sun sets, no one should be walking, running or bicycling dressed in dark clothing. As a shift worker, I shop at all hours, regardless of the day of the week. Whenever I see individuals wearing dark clothing in the middle of the night, I contact local law enforcement.
Borrowed money
I believe we have the stupidest, most corrupt government in history. Why else would the United States be spending money they have to borrow from China to other countries?
Union Street
Who in their right mind wants to revitalize the Union Street area around the Aiken Visitor Center and Train Museum? Sounds like the mayor and his cronies love pouring our tax dollars into this project. Maybe it's time to send a message to these spend happy fools. We are not going to sit idly and let them continue to dump our tax money into worthless projects. How about a take back Aiken movement?
Punishment
I would like to commend Judge Doyet "Jack" Early for giving Hulitt Boyd the sentence he deserves. Thank you, Judge Early. I hope the other judges in this area will follow suit. If they would put these crooks away for 15 or 20 years, it will give them time to think (if that's possible) a little bit and decide if this is where they want to spend a good portion of their lives. I was robbed of about $15,000 of property and money a few years ago, and the judge gave the 19-year-old nut 12 months in a juvenile detention center. Immediately after he was released, he did the same thing to other folks and is in prison again. If he had been given more time, he would not have had the opportunity to rob these other folks. Come on, judges, give these crooks what they deserve and keep them off our streets.
