Weekend to be full of homecoming activities at USCA
USC Aiken will celebrate its homecoming with two days of festivities on Friday and Saturday.
This year's homecoming, set in a Mardi Gras theme, will begin with a reception on Friday for USCA's new School of Nursing Dean, Dr. Sara Campbell. The reception will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gregg-Graniteville Library Memorial Room.
Also on Friday, there will be a Greek Step Show at 7 p.m. at USCA's Business and Education Building Gym, with tickets available for purchase at the door for $7.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Social, Dinner and Inductions will also occur from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Convocation Center, with tickets $30 and obtainable through the Athletic Department by calling 641-3486. Inductees include: Richard Abney, baseball; Meredith Legg, women's basketball; Ashley Farr, baseball; Edward Reevey, golf; Mike Green, men's soccer; Adam Riggs, baseball; Sean Gunn, men's basketball; and Kendrick Smith, men's basketball. Wrapping up the day's homecoming festivities on Friday, Delta Sigma Theta will hold a meet and greet at Soiree Restaurant in Aiken at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the homecoming celebration will continue, starting with an athletics reunion. A women's alumni basketball game is set for 10 a.m., followed by a men's alumni basketball game at 11 a.m.
The School of Nursing will offer an alumni brunch that same day from 10 a.m. to noon at Houndslake Country Club at a cost of $25, with reservations required. Tickets can be purchased through the School of Nursing at 641-3277. The School of Nursing is celebrating its 40th anniversary and will be recognizing distinguished alumni.
Also on Saturday, there will be an alumni volleyball game at 1:30 p.m., a School of Nursing tour and a Health Awareness Fair at the Nursing Building from 2 to 4 p.m., and a Delta Sigma Theta/Rho Lambda Reunion Tailgate at 2 p.m.
There will be a 50th anniversary tailgate event, to include the USCA Alumni Band and a family carnival, outside the Convocation Center, with a Student Life homecoming parade starting at 4 p.m. in the Business and Education Building parking lot and ending at the carnival.
Saturday's festivities wrap up with the women's and men's basketball games against Lander University at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
